We help young people build confidence and life-skills through music.
Side-by-side
In our side-by-side sessions, secondary school students sit alongside our players in a professional orchestral setting to learn, rehearse and perform together in an inclusive environment. Through practical music-making and mentoring, the programme helps students build confidence, strengthen their music skills and gain a deeper understanding of orchestra music.
GCSE and A-Level Set Works
We visit schools to spend time with students exploring GCSE Music set works through live demonstration and focused listening. Our players get stuck into dissecting the music with students, breaking it down from a performer’s point of view and helping them to deepen their understand of a work. The focus is on building understanding, confidence and insight as students prepare for their exams.
Young people in the community
Our student training programme gives young people the opportunity to design and deliver their own workshops and presentations in community settings. Students work closely with our musicians to develop their ideas through workshopping, before putting them into practice in real-life settings. Along the way, the students build practical skills, confidence, self-esteem and experience in public speaking and presentation that stay with them beyond the course.
