There’s lots celebrate in Croydon. That’s why we champion performances created by the people who live and work here.
Our work in Croydon is focused around collaborating with local creatives and young people to make new work that truly reflects the borough and its communities.
Working alongside professional composers and LMP musicians, our work here is proudly Croydon-made. Whether presented on stage at Fairfield Halls with spectacular lighting or shared in unexpected spaces across the borough, we’re proud to amplify voices from across the borough.
Devised work and community commissions
We create new work by teaming up with creative partners from diverse backgrounds, bringing them together with our players and professional composers. Together, we workshop ideas, craft lyrics, and shape musical themes that truly belong to the people who create them.
We’ve collaborated with spoken word artists, disabled electronic musicians, dancers, and people from refugee communities. Each projects grows out of the unique voices in the room and these early workshops help to inspire the creation of a new piece. From there, the work is developed through more workshops and rehearsals, gradually taking shape until it’s ready to be shared on stage in one of our performances.
Steering groups
We have open consultation and discussions about programming with local Croydon residents, community partners and stakeholders to ensure that the voice of our community is authentically embedded within our work.
